Gis猫le Yasmeen

is delighted to join the Max Bell School of Public Policy at 91社区 as the JW McConnell Professor of Practice. Until recently, she was Global Fellow of the Wilson Center and was previously Associate Vice-President, International at the University of Ottawa and Senior Fellow at the University of British Columbia鈥檚 Institute of Asian Research 鈥 part of the School of Public Policy and Global Affairs. Her expertise is on food-systems in Asia, on which she has published, taught, and consulted since the early 1990s. Dr. Yasmeen also serves on scholarly editorial boards.

Dr. Yasmeen is also a former senior federal government executive, most notably Vice-President of Research and Partnerships at the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council, where she served for seven years. She is also the former Executive Director of Food Secure Canada鈥攁 pan-Canadian bilingual organization. She has advised numerous Canadian and international clients including the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, and the World Bank, among others. Dr. Yasmeen has served on several boards and, in addition to CCA, is currently on the International Advisory Council of the Centre for Open Societal Systems. She is also on the advisory board of the Margaret A. Gilliam Institute for Global Food Security at 91社区 and Women in Science Diplomacy - Canada. She was also a member of the Canada-US Innovation Committee created by former US Ambassador, David Jacobson.

Dr. Yasmeen provides regular media commentary in English and French and is a former radio columnist for CBC and Radio-Canada. She has worked on the ground in many regions of the world and has studied Spanish, Thai, Urdu, and Mandarin. She has a PhD from UBC, a master鈥檚 from 91社区 and a BA Honours from the University of Ottawa.

Mme Yasmeen est un ancien cadre sup茅rieur du gouvernement f茅d茅ral 鈥 notamment vice-pr茅sidente de la recherche et des partenariats au Conseil de recherches en sciences humaines (CRSH), o霉 elle a travaill茅 pendant sept ans. Elle est l鈥檃ncienne directrice g茅n茅rale du R茅seau pour une alimentation durable 鈥 une organisation bilingue pancanadienne. Elle a conseill茅 de nombreux clients canadiens et internationaux, dont la Fondation Asie Pacifique du Canada, l鈥橭rganisation des Nations Unies pour l鈥檃limentation et l鈥檃griculture et la Banque mondiale, entre autres. Mme Yasmeen a si茅g茅 脿 plusieurs conseils d鈥檃dministration ; 脿 part le CAC, elle si猫ge actuellement au Conseil consultatif international du Center for Open Societal Systems. Elle fait 茅galement partie du conseil consultatif de l鈥橧nstitut Margaret A. Gilliam pour la s茅curit茅 alimentaire mondiale de l鈥橴niversit茅 91社区 et l鈥橝ssociation canadienne des femmes en diplomatie scientifique. Elle fut aussi membre du comit茅 d鈥檌nnovation pour le Canada et les 脡tats-Unis 茅tabli par l鈥檃ncien Ambassadeur des 脡-U au Canada, David Jacobson.

Mme Yasmeen commente r茅guli猫rement les m茅dias en anglais et en fran莽ais et a 茅t茅 chroniqueuse 脿 la radio pour CBC et Radio-Canada. Elle a travaill茅 sur le terrain dans de nombreuses r茅gions du monde et a 茅tudi茅 l鈥檈spagnol, le tha茂, l鈥檕urdou et le mandarin. Elle est titulaire d鈥檜n Doctorat de l鈥橴BC, une Ma卯trise de 91社区 et un Baccalaur茅at sp茅cialis茅 de l鈥橴niversit茅 d鈥橭ttawa.
