Research | Viral DNA sequences in the human genome may help control gene activity, new study shows

Long dismissed as “junk,” viral fragments buried in human DNA may help regulate our genes, according to a new international study co-led by Guillaume Bourque, professor in 91��’s Department of Human Genetics, D2R-funded researcher and member of the D2R Research Steering Committee and Executive (RSC). The findings offer new insights into what makes us human, 25 years after the human genome was first mapped.

Spring shoulder season

We are entering the “spring shoulder season” from early April to May, the time of the year where we switch from heating our buildings to cooling them. During this transition, your workspace or study space may become warm when the outdoor temperature rises or feel cool if temperatures drop in the coming weeks. We also want to inform all building directors that this preparation prioritizes preventative maintenance activities related to upcoming shoulder season, therefore it may lead to longer completion timelines for some of the work you request.
