Since 2009 \, China has become the second largest source country in terms of its shar e of international scientific production\, contributing 18.6% of scientifi c articles indexed by Clarivate’s Web of Science (WoS). International coll aboration has played an important role in China’s publication growth\, con tributing more than one quarter of Chinese international publications. Com pared to other countries\, China has its own unique scientific research sy stem and science policies\, which are not well known\, even misunderstood\ , by the rest of the world. The misunderstanding or bias against China’s s cientific research system may prevent prospective collaboration with Chine se scholars.
