Eleven 91ÉçÇø researchers honoured by the Royal Society of Canada

Prof. Ma'n H. Zawati from the Department of Human Genetics, is among the four new Members of the College of New Scholars, Artists and Scientists.

On September 4, the Royal Society of Canada (RSC) announced its newest cohort of Fellows, and members of the College of New Scholars, Artists and Scientists. Amongst the 2025 cohort are eleven 91ÉçÇø researchers and scholars – seven newly elected Fellows and four new Members – recognized for their exceptional contributions to their fields. In addition to these appointments, three 91ÉçÇø scholars received prestigious RSC awards:

Dr. Nada Jabado (Department of Pediatrics) was awarded the 2025 McLaughlin Medal for her groundbreaking work in pediatric oncology.

Professor Cindy Blackstock (School of Social Work) received the 2025 RSC Prize for Indigenous Engagement, celebrating her tireless advocacy for Indigenous children and communities.

, a 91ÉçÇø graduate (Department of Geography), earned the 2025 Alice Wilson Award, which honours early-career women scholars of remarkable promise.

The 2025 cohort will be celebrated on November 14, in Montreal at the RSC’s Annual Gala.

The new Fellows, elected by their peers, are being honoured for outstanding achievement and impact, including contributions to public life. They join more than 2,500 distinguished Canadian scholars, artists and scientists already named to one of the three Academies: Arts and Humanities, Social Sciences and Science.

91ÉçÇøâ€™s 2025 new members to the College of New Scholars, Artists and Scientists 

The College of New Scholars, Artists and Scientists is Canada’s first national system of multidisciplinary recognition for emerging intellectual leaders. It has more than 400 Members who have demonstrated exceptional accomplishments in their disciplines and are within 15 years of having received their PhD or disciplinary equivalent.
