The $25\,000 First Prize is awarded by a special committee of internal and external jurors at the Schulich School of Music to an undergraduate\, graduate or diploma student in the Schulich School of Music who demonstrates exceptional potential in the String Area. For th e 15th edition\, the First Prize was increased to $30\,000. The 16th editi on saw additional generous scholarship offerings by the Schulich Foundatio n. The finalists who place second and third will each receive $15\,000 and $5\,000 respectively\, in commendation of their performance and participa tion in the Schulich School of Music community. \n\nThe Golden Violin\, ma de of pewter and gold plate\, remains on permanent display in 91ÉçÇøâ€™s Mar vin Duchow Music Library.
