In this work, they report a functional role for myostatin as an endocrine hormone that directly promotes pituitary follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) synthesis and thereby ovarian function in mice. Previously, this FSH-stimulating role was attributed to other members of the transforming growth factor-β family, the activins. Their results both challenge activin's eponymous role in FSH synthesis and establish an unexpected endocrine axis between skeletal muscle and the pituitary gland.
Thu, 20 Mar 2025 17:56:32 +0000 admin 14372 at /mssi News | David Bujold (C3G) appointed Co-Lead of GA4GH Discovery Work Stream /mssi/channels/news/news-david-bujold-c3g-appointed-co-lead-ga4gh-discovery-work-stream-367090
The Global Alliance for Genomics and Health (GA4GH) has announced new leadership across several initiatives, including the appointment of David Bujold, Data Team Lead at the Canadian Centre for Computational Genomics (C3G)and Bioinformatics Manager at 91ÉçÇř’s Victor Phillip Dahdaleh Institute of Genomic Medicine, as Co-Lead of the Discovery Work Stream.
Thu, 04 Sep 2025 12:46:52 +0000 admin 14358 at /mssi
