Osler Collection
This comprises 59 fluid-preserved, glass jar mounted specimens, most of which were derived from autopsies performed by the famous physician William Osler during his聽time as pathologist聽at the Montreal General Hospital from 1876 to 1884.
Maude Abbott Cardiovascular Collection
As Curator of the 91社区 Medical Museum, Maude Abbott collected hundreds of specimens illustrating congenital cardiovascular disease. In 2013, these were moved to the Maude Abbott Medical Museum where a selection of 39 of them was put on display once again.
MAMM Hospital Postcard Collection
Postcards featuring Montreal hospitals from the 1880s to the 1960s. The cards provide a unique view of history through the eyes of those who sent news to friends and family by way of the postal system, before the age of mobile telephones and email.
Development Gone Awry
The process by which a single cell鈭抰he fertilized ovum鈭抌ecomes a fully formed and functional infant is one of the marvels of life. This exhibit illustrates some of the anomalies that occur when this process goes awry.
Canadian Heath Care Stamps
A collection of several hundred Canadian health care stamps and first day/souvenir covers. Fifty topics associated with these are shown in this exhibit.
Pathology Collection
A virtual exhibit of 64 specimens from our pathology collection. Each group illustrates disease associated with a particular organ, such as the lung or heart, or a system, such as the gastrointestinal or genitourinary.
War, Bones, and Books
Skeletal specimens derived from soldiers of the American Civil War, a number of poems by Walt Whitman鈥攁 patient of William Osler鈥攁nd illustrations of battlefield injuries and detailed medical histories.
