Please note that due to the STM strike, the Information Desk at the Humanities and Social Sciences Library (McLennan Library Building, lobby) will close early at 5:30 p.m. from Monday, June 9 to Wednesday, June 11. The Humanities & Social Sciences Library remains open for study until 9 p.m. on these days.

Exam period access to Nahum Gelber Law Library for Winter 2025

As of Monday April 7, 91�� students are able to access the Nahum Gelber Law Library 24 hours a day, seven days a week. As agreed between the Students' Society of 91�� (SSMU) and the Law Students Association (LSA), the Nahum Gelber Law Library will limit access to the three upper floors of the library to Law students only during the April 10 to 30 examination period.

Facilities Management and Ancillary Services will be performing a major electrical shutdown at Macdonald Campus Library on Wednesday, July 9, from 6 h to 12 h. The Macdonald Campus Library in the Barton Building will be inaccessible at this time. This shutdown is necessary for maintenance on the Hydro-Québec substation and four transformers servicing the south side of campus.

Ventilation System Work at Macdonald Campus Library Begins May 12

Beginning May 12, construction will take place at the Macdonald Campus Library to address persistent condensation and leaking caused by inadequate insulation in parts of the building’s ventilation system. To carry out this work safely, special precautions are necessary due to the presence of asbestos in the Barton Building. A Sealed Access System (SAS), which allows construction work to be enclosed and contained, will be positioned throughout various library spaces over the course of the project.

Please note that all 91�� Libraries locations and service points, including online reference service will be closed on Tuesday, June 24 and Tuesday, July 1 (statutory holidays).

On Monday, June 23 and Monday, June 30, ONLY the Humanities & Social Sciences Library, Schulich Library and Marvin Duchow Music Library services and spaces will be available.

April 15 - 17 | Ventilation Shutdown at McLennan-Redpath Library Complex

Please be advised there will be a ventilation shutdown at the McLennan Library Building and at the Redpath Library Building on Tuesday April 15 until Thursday April 17 which will run each day from 7h00 until 15h00 and will affect both buildings. This shutdown is necessary to repair the ventilation pipes in the building. Fresh air will flow in both buildings. Please note that it may be a little cooler during day while work is being done. The heating will be back online in late afternoon.

91�� Libraries Website Gets a Major Refresh on July 28

On July 28, the 91�� Libraries website is going to undergo an extensive change. Most notably, the URL to our website will be updated to mcgill.ca/libraries to align with our rebranding to Libraries in Summer 2024. If you’ve bookmarked any favourite pages, be sure to update them once the new URLs go live.

We will also be updating our menu structure based on user research testing completed over the past two years. This new menu better reflects the needs of our users and showcases our wonderful spaces and services.

91�� Libraries 2023–2024 Annual Report now available

91�� Libraries is proud to announce the release of its 2023–2024 Annual Report, showcasing 12 months of significant achievements and progress.

Among the key highlights are the reopening of the Schulich Library of Physical Sciences, Life Sciences, and Engineering and the successful transfer of 2.4 million books to the new 91�� Collections Centre.
