 nions.\n\nMore than 10 years after the epilogue of the Éric v. Lola case\,
  the Quebec legislature amended the Civil Code to offer common-law spouses
  who are parents of the same child a regime adapted to their situation. La
 wyers\, and notaries in particular\, will be called upon to advise common-
 law spouses who have become parents. This will sometimes involve exempting
  them from the provisions of the law or modulating their application\, and
  sometimes ensuring their implementation\, for example to protect the fami
 ly residence\, to divide property following a breakup or to settle an esta
 te.\n\nSpecialists from academia and practice will join forces to prepare
