They are the ones who\, on a daily basis\, make sure that their loved one鈥攖heir spouse\, parent\, child\, sibling\, or friend鈥攈as what they need to stay safe\, healthy and loved.\n\nBut taking on the responsibility of caregiver to a family membe r or friend often means balancing the competing demands of life\, such as working\, raising children and maintaining healthy relationships. It may i nvolve performing tasks that can be emotionally and physically demanding. Unfortunately\, very few caregivers know how to navigate the system and lo cate the necessary resources to sustain them. As well\, many caregivers ma intain a strong fa莽ade and ignore their own limitations\, which can have a profound impact their health and well-being.\n\nIn this presentation\, Cl aire Webster\, former caregiver and founder of the 91社区 Demen tia Education Program\, will talk about the challenges that she encountere d and share lessons learned based on her personal journey as caregiver to her late mother who passed away from Alzheimer鈥檚 disease in 2016. Claire w ill talk about how this experience inspired her to become a strong advocat e for dementia care and led to her partnering with a multidisciplinary tea m at 91社区 to develop innovative free educational resources designed to s upport people living with dementia and their care partners.
