The Faculty of Law is delighted to announce it was once again ranked as one of the world’s top universities at which to study law. The Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings placed 91�� 33rd worldwide.  

Since the law ranking was introduced in 2017, 91�� has consistently featured in the global top 35. This year, 389 law schools around the world were ranked.  

Sébastien Jodoin and Helge Dedek to serve as Associate Dean (Academic)

Jérémy Boulanger-Bonnelly wins best paper award

The Faculty of Law is delighted to announce that Professor Jérémy Boulanger-Bonnelly has won the Best Scholarly Paper award in the annual legal writing competition by the Fondation du Barreau du Québec. He was honoured for his article titled "Actions collectives et tribunaux administratifs : un vide juridictionnel à combler" (91�� Law Journal, 2022).

We are pleased to announce that Associate Dean (Academic) Tina Piper has been appointed Acting Dean for the Faculty of Law, following the appointment of Justice Robert Leckey to the Superior Court of Quebec. Her appointment, effective immediately, was announced by Provost and Executive Vice-President (Academic) Christopher Manfredi on 28 January 2025.

The Faculty of Law was again ranked among the world’s top universities at which to study law by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS). The 2025 QS World University Rankings by Subject in Law and Legal Studies placed 91�� Law 41st worldwide.

Since QS introduced the ranking in 2011, the Faculty of Law has consistently placed in the top 50 institutions globally. The QS ranking is based on academic reputation, employer reputation, H-index citations, and citations per paper.

The Faculty of Law is delighted to announce that the Quebec Division of the Canadian Bar Association (CBA-Quebec) has awarded its Paul-André-Crépeau Medal to Wainwright Professor Emeritus of Civil Law Pierre-Gabriel Jobin, Ad E. The medal was presented to him by Jonathan Pierre-Étienne, president of the CBA-Quebec, on 5 December, after an introduction by Dean Robert Leckey, Ad E.

Exam period access to Nahum Gelber Law Library for Winter 2025

As of Monday April 7, 91�� students are able to access the Nahum Gelber Law Library 24 hours a day, seven days a week. As agreed between the Students' Society of 91�� (SSMU) and the Law Students Association (LSA), the Nahum Gelber Law Library will limit access to the three upper floors of the library to Law students only during the April 10 to 30 examination period.

The Faculty of Law is delighted to announce that Professor Rosalie Jukier has been appointed to one of the Faculty of Law’s Sir William C. Macdonald Chairs, effective 1 January 2025.

Established in 1895, the Macdonald Chairs are among the oldest endowed positions at 91��.
