Osler Awards for Outstanding Teaching go to Fr茅d茅ric C么t茅 and Andrea Blotsky

This year鈥檚 Osler Awards for Outstanding Teaching in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences were bestowed upon Fr茅d茅ric C么t茅, MD, Faculty Lecturer in General Surgery, Gatineau surgical site director and TCP course director at Campus Outaouais, and Andrea Blotsky, MDCM, Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Montreal campus and attending physician at St. Mary鈥檚 Hospital Center. A worthy recipient from each campus is chosen by senior medical students for their outstanding contribution to their medical education. The awards were presented as part of the Spring Convocation ceremony 鈥淎鈥 on May 27.

At Campus Outaouais, Dr. C么t茅 was recognized for his outstanding surgical teaching and leadership. A general surgeon at CISSS de l鈥橭utaouais since 2008 and TCP director since 2019, Dr. C么t茅 is deeply involved in both patient care and education. A student praised his 鈥渞emarkable understanding of surgical pathophysiology,鈥 adding that working with him was a 鈥渢ruly exceptional learning experience.鈥

In Montreal, the MDCM Class of 2025 selected Dr. Blotsky, known for her commitment to clinical excellence and learner-centered teaching. As TCP course director in Internal Medicine and Clinical Methods 1 co-director, she plays a vital role in preparing students for clinical practice. Students described her as 鈥渁n incredible teacher鈥 whose passion for medicine is 鈥渦tterly contagious.鈥 One noted, 鈥淪he models deep clinical knowledge and selfless empathy, and still makes time to teach despite her demanding schedule.鈥

Both educators exemplify the spirit of the Osler Award鈥攁n unwavering dedication to student growth, clinical excellence and compassionate teaching.
