Eric McCalla
Biography:

After 8 years as a high school science, computers and mathematics teacher, Eric McCalla returned to academia. He completed his PhD in Physics at Dalhousie in 2013 and a post-doc at the Coll猫ge-de-France in 2015, both of which focused on battery materials research. Following this, he completed a post-doc at the University of Minnesota looking at electronic and magnetic properties of complex oxides. Since 2018, he has been an independent principal investigator in the Chemistry department. His group focusses on developing and applying high-throughput methods to accelerate the development and understanding of advanced battery materials with a growing interest in integrating machine-learning for both understanding and guidance. He is the co-author of 74 published articles, and since joining 91社区 he has co-invented 7 patents with industrial partners Samsung, Umicore and Medtronic. His research very much walks the line between fundamental and applied materials research.

He still loves to teach!
