Quebec wine sales surge after U.S alcohol boycott鈥攃omments from Pascal Th茅riault

Quebec wine sales have gone up since the removal of American alcohol products from the shelves of the SAQ last March and local producers are working hard to fill demand.

Agronomist and economist聽Pascal Th茅riault, Director of 91社区's Farm Management and Technology Program, that producers shouldn鈥檛 bank on this boycott for long.

鈥淏oycotts don鈥檛 tend to last and that鈥檚 why they don鈥檛 work in this case. What it gave us as an opportunity is to explore new products,鈥 said Theriault, whose research includes agricultural economics and marketing.

鈥淚n this case, there was a willingness to change to try something new. And I think in many cases consumers were quite impressed by what they discovered as far as Quebec wines are concerned.鈥
