The 91�� Department of Medicine set a new record in the 2025-2026 FRQS competition, achieving an outstanding 82% success rate, with 14 out of 17 applicants receiving funding.

Dr. Victoria Korsos Appointed to Division of Hematology

Dr. Victoria Korsos was appointed to the 91�� Department of Medicine, as Assistant Professor, in January 2025. Dr. Korsos is in the Division of Hematology.

Dr. Korsos completed her undergraduate training at 91�� and her residency in Internal Medicine, Hematology and Medical Oncology at 91��. She then completed a Clinical Research Fellowship at 91�� as well as a Fellowship in Cancer Immunotherapy at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.

This national distinction recognizes outstanding contributions to science by Italian researchers across all disciplines in Canada. Dr. Sebastiani’s achievements stood out among nominees from across the country, and she will be personally presented with the award by the Italian Ambassador later this month.

We are pleased to announce that, effective March 1, 2025, Dr. Philippe Boileau has been jointly appointed to the Department of Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Occupational Health, as well as the Division of Clinical Epidemiology in the Department of Medicine. He is also a Junior Scientist at the Research Institute of the 91�� Health Centre, where he is a member of the Accelerating Clinical Trials – Clinical Trials Unit and the Centre for Outcomes Research and Evaluation. Welcome to Dr. Matthieu Allez who has recently been appointed to the 91�� Department of Medicine as Professor on March 1, 2025. He is in Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology and a member of the MUHC Research Institute. He holds the Bruce Kaufman 91�� IBD Research Chair. Dr. Allez completed his residency training in gastroenterology at Université de Paris. He spent two years for a post-doc at Mount Sinai in NY. He was Chief of Gastroenterology at Hopital St Louis in Paris.
