The Faculty of Dental Medicine and Oral Health Sciences is pleased to announce that Assistant Professor Elizabeth Zimmermann has been named a William Dawson Scholar.
The William Dawson Scholar award recognizes scholars at 91社区 developing into an outstanding and original researcher of world-class caliber who is poised to become a leader in their field. The award is given for a five-year term.
Elizabeth Zimmermann joined the Faculty as Assistant Professor in 2020. Her research focuses on materials characterization, mechanical behavior of materials and tissues, structure-function relationships, and pre-clinical and clinical imaging of mineralized tissues. She obtained her PhD in Materials Science and Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley and completed post-doctoral fellowships at the University Medical Center, Hamburg-Eppendorf and at the Shriners Hospital for Children-Canada, where she worked with clinicians and scientists to investigate bone adaptation in genetic disorders like Marfan Syndrome and osteogenesis imperfecta using pre-clinical and clinical imaging techniques.
