Meeting these targets will requi re a substantial reduction in fossil fuel use and simultaneous growth in a doption of new climate technologies. Climate policy models frequently assu me that rapid technology transitions are possible\, but history points to potential social\, political\, and economic barriers. This talk will discu ss projects at the Climate Action Lab to bridge granular technology data a nd computational models to explore the limits and potential of technology change for climate policy. The first project uses detailed technology and infrastructure data to model pathways to phase out coal power plants and t ransition away from natural gas use in buildings. The second project uses early investment data and insights from analogous historical technologies to model the scale-up of carbon dioxide removal technologies. These projec ts highlight the high costs of delaying technology transitions and the piv otal role of climate and innovation policy over the next decade.\n\n\nEven t co-hosted by\n\n\n CDSI\n\n\n\n TISED\n\n\n\n McISCE\n\n\n\n SGI\n\n\n                       \n\n\n \n\nMore information & Registration\n\n \n DTSTART:20230320T180000Z DTEND:20230320T190000Z SUMMARY:CDSI Speaker Series: Morgan Edwards URL:/cdsi/channels/events/speaker-morgan-edwards END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
